Bluebeam, a tech company in Pasadena, is renowned for its innovative markup and collaboration software widely adopted in the design and construction industry. With 1.4 million users worldwide, Bluebeam has rapidly expanded its reach. Seeking consolidation, they leased a historic Royal Laundry Building capable of accommodating their entire workforce on a single Building. Collaborating with the existing architecture, the design team transformed the space into a vibrant and dynamic environment that aligns with Bluebeam’s open and creative culture. The design incorporates elements of the original laundry plant, such as showcasing the existing windows, beams, rafters, and trusses. To foster a sense of community and encourage collaboration, the new office offers 30% more meeting and communal spaces compared to their previous location. A large meeting room near the entrance seamlessly merges with the kitchen and breakroom, creating a spacious communal area. To optimize costs, approximately 80% of Bluebeam’s existing ancillary furniture and 15% of their workstations and office products were re-purposed. Workstation areas and meeting rooms boast bold visual textures and pops of color with linear carpet tiles, while the common areas maintain an industrial vibe with polished concrete floors. Additionally, a centrally-located outdoor courtyard brings employees closer to nature.
